Vestry Resolution Affirming Windsor Report Whereas the Preamble to the Constitution of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America states: "The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America, otherwise known as The Episcopal Church (which name is hereby recognized as also designating the Church), is a constituent member of the Anglican Communion, a Fellowship within the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, of those duly constituted Dioceses, Provinces, and regional Churches in communion with the See of Canterbury, upholding and propagating the historic Faith and Order as set forth in the Book of Common Prayer" and Whereas the Lambeth Commission on Communion appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the direction of the Primates of the Anglican Communion has issued its report (hereafter called the 'Windsor Report of 2004'), which was accepted, and affirmed as normative by three of the four Instruments of Unity: namely the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Primates, and the Anglican Consultative Council (the Lambeth Conference not meeting until 2008), and Whereas the Bylaws of Trinity Church state that we uphold the classical, traditional understanding of Christian faith and order as commonly understood in the Anglican tradition (Bylaws, Appendices II and III) and Whereas the Windsor Report represents the mind of the Anglican Communion as expressed by all the Instruments of Unity, including the Lambeth Conference of 1998, THEREFORE the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church of Nevada City, California, accepts the Windsor Report of 2004, affirms its reasoning, conclusions, and recommendations as commanding our respect and godly adherence, such ratification representing our desire and intention to promote peace and unity in the Church and to remain one in faith and communion with Anglicans everywhere. FURTHERMORE we respectfully call upon the leadership and legislative bodies of the Diocese of Northern California and the Episcopal Church, USA to do the same.
